Arvidsson captures another Memphis title|
Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Sofia Arvidsson downed fourth seed Marina
Erakovic on Saturday to capture the $220,000 Memphis International tennis
Arvidsson, who earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory on the indoor hardcourts
at The Racquet Club of Memphis, also titled here in 2006 and was the event's
runner-up two years ago.
The 28-year-old Arvidsson has now won two career WTA championships in four
overall final appearances. She ousted Erakovic in 1 hour, 24 minutes. The two
had met once previously on the WTA circuit, with Erakovic prevailing in
straight sets last year in Stanford.
Erakovic, 23, had lost in her only previous final, which was in Quebec City
Arvidsson collected $37,000 for her efforts.
