Azarenka moves to 21-0; Kerber advances at Indian Wells
Indian Wells, CA (Sports Network) - World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka was an easy quarterfinal winner Wednesday at the $5.535 million BNP Paribas Open.
The Australian Open champion Azarenka improved to a perfect 21-0 this year with a 6-0, 6-2 dismantling of fifth-seeded Pole Agnieszka Radwanska in 68 minutes at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Azarenka has played Radwanska in all four of her events this year, winning all four times, including an Aussie Open semifinal victory in January.
Radwanska was a big winner in Dubai last month.
The Belarusian star Azarenka, seeking her fourth title of 2012, will meet 18th-seeded Angelique Kerber in Friday's semifinals. The German broke the eighth-seeded Li Na's serve five times en route to a 6-4, 6-2 throttling of the reigning French Open champ.
On Thursday, No. 2 seed Maria Sharapova will face No. 10 Maria Kirilenko, and seventh-seeded Marion Bartoli battles No. 15 Ana Ivanovic.
The 2012 Indian Wells titlist will collect $1 million.
