Errani rolls into QFs at Acapulco

Acapulco, MX (Sports Network) - Top-seeded and reigning Acapulco champion Sara Errani earned a straight-set victory over Kiki Bertens in Thursday's quarterfinals at the Mexican Open tennis event.

Errani, the 2012 French Open runner-up and last week's Dubai runner-up, saved 5-of-8 break point opportunities, as she cruised past fifth-ranked Bertens of the Netherlands, 6-4, 6-4 on the red clay at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess.

No. 2 seed Carla Suarez Navarro snuck past sixth-seeded Francesca Schiavone 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-2, in just over three hours.

Alize Cornet outlasted Lourdes Dominguez Lino, 3-6, 7-6 (12-10), 7-6 (7-2) in a match that lasted just over 3 1/2 hours. Cornet was a finalist at this event in 2008.

In other action between unseeded opponents, Silvia Soler-Espinosa defeated Karin Knapp, 6-2, 6-2.

The 2013 Acapulco champ will collect $40,000.
