Dimitrov outlasts Lopez in Queen's Club final

London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Fourth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov saved a match point in a grueling 6-7 (8-10), 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (8-6) win over 10th- seeded Feliciano Lopez in Sunday's final at the Aegon Championships.

Lopez had a championship point on Dimitrov's serve in the 12th game of the second set, but he netted a forehand return.

After thrashing the Spaniard in the one-sided tiebreak, Dimitrov fell behind an early break in the third before winning three straight games to go up 5-4. Lopez recovered to force a third tiebreak and held a 4-3 lead before firing a forehand into the net on his opponent's second championship point.

Dimitrov, who fired a whopping 27 aces in the two-hour, 31-minute match, became the first Bulgarian to win this grass-court tournament. It was his fourth career title and third this year.

"I'm really happy with the win," Dimitrov said. "Obviously I knew what I had to do today out on the court, and (Lopez) is one of those competitors that when it comes to fast surfaces, he's always very tricky to play. I just fought hard and left everything out on the court."

Lopez beat Dimitrov in straight sets at The Queen's Club in 2010, the only previous meeting between them.

"It's tough to lose when you play such a great match," Lopez said. "Overall it was a great week for me."
