Wawrinka wins second Chennai title

Chennai, India (SportsNetwork.com) - Top seed Stanislas Wawrinka posted a 7-5, 6-2 win over Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin in Sunday's final at the season- opening Chennai Open.

Wawrinka fired five aces and saved the only break point he faced in his 500th match on the ATP World Tour.

"I was really happy with the way I was playing," Wawrinka said. "In the end, I think I served well and played aggressive."

The Swiss improved to 5-9 in career finals and captured his second title at this tournament, adding to his triumph three years ago. He was also the Chennai runner-up in 2010.

Roger-Vasselin, the seventh seed, was broken three times in just his second career final. He was beaten by Ernests Gulbis in last year's title match at Delray Beach.

"After this final I can say it was a great week for me," Roger-Vasselin said. "I have positive feelings from this week...Every week is different and I have to be focused on my game. Of course it gives me a lot of confidence for the rest of the season."
