Bellucci knocks of Tipsarevic for Swiss Open crown

Gstaad, Switzerland (Sports Network) - Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil rallied for a three-set win over Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic to capture the title at the Swiss Open Gstaad.

Bellucci claimed a 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 6-2 triumph on Sunday for his second Gstaad crown and third career ATP title. He also won this tournament as a qualifier in 2009 for his first-ever crown and earned his last title two years ago in Santiago.

"Gstaad is very special for me because I won my first title here three years ago, which was a surprise and unexpected," said Bellucci. "For me to win one more time here is very special. I feel very comfortable here, like I'm playing at home."

Tipsarevic was bidding for his second straight title, having won last week's event in Stuttgart. He beat Bellucci in the semifinals along the way and appeared set to do so again on Sunday by winning the first set after rallying from a 1-6 deficit in the tiebreak.

Bellucci, though, broke serve once in the second set and twice in the third to complete the comeback. He won all but six points on his serve in the final set and also captured 18 of the 35 points on Tipsarevic's serve in the third.

"I felt the first two sets could have gone either way and he was just a better player than me in the third set," said Tipsarevic.

Tipsarevic, the top seed this week, fell to 3-7 all-time in finals. In addition to his title last week, he also lost in the final of his season-debut in Chennai back in January.

Bellucci improved to 3-1 all-time in finals and is now 2-1 lifetime against Tipsarevic.
