Boyds, MD (Sports Network) - Washington Freedom striker Abby Wambach was named Women's Professional Soccer Player of the Week for Week 2 on Tuesday.

Wambach had one goal and two assists in Washington's 3-1 win over the Atlanta Beat on Sunday. She scored in the 44th minute, and assisted on goals by Homare Sawa in the 51st and Christie Welsh in the 90th.

Atlanta visits FC Gold Pride on Saturday. Washington visits the Philadelphia Independence on Sunday in its next match.

Sky Blue FC visits the Chicago Red Stars, and the Boston Breakers visit the Saint Louis Athletica in Sunday's other matches.
