Nelson Mandella Stadium

Nelson Mandella Stadium

Host City: Nelson Mandella Bay/Port Elizabeth
Population: 1,005,779
Stadium Capacity: 46,082

(Sports Network) - The first of the newly-built stadiums to be completed, the Nelson Mandella Bay Stadium is located in Port Elizabeth and will be a busy place during this summer's World Cup.

The stadium will host five group-stage matches, with a second-round contest, a quarterfinal and the third-place game all set to take place in the $150 million structure, which seats just over 46,000.

The stadium is situated on the shores of the North End Lake and is the first such structure to be dedicated to soccer in the area.

With no athletic track surrounding the playing field, fans will be right on top of the action, while a unique roof structure and nice view of the lake will no doubt be pleasing to the eye.

One of the first big events to take place at the new Nelson Mandella Bay Stadium was the annual soccer match between South African clubs Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, which always draws a capacity crowd.
