Juve and Inter square off at top of Serie A

Turin, Italy (Sports Network) - Serie A rivals Juventus and Inter Milan meet up in the first Derby d'Italia of the season on Saturday with the two sides positioned at the top of the league.

Juventus sits four points clear of Inter ahead of the contest and has won nine of its first 10 games with a draw to start the current campaign.

A win or draw against the Nerazzurri on Saturday would extend Juve's league unbeaten streak to 50 games, but the Old Lady will be up against a formidable side.

Inter has won eight successive games in all competitions and climbed into second place in the league with a 3-2 win over Sampdoria in midweek.

Juve, meanwhile, needed a last-gasp goal from Paul Pogba to down Bologna, 2-1, in its last outing.

After enduring a disappointing campaign last season, Inter has bounced back under manager Andrea Stramaccioni, who has earned praise for his work with the team so far this season.

Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli doesn't think that Saturday's match will be decisive in the title race, but he does think that Stramaccioni has turned Inter into a legitimate title contender.

"It won't be decisive, it's too early, but the Nerazzurri will challenge for the Scudetto," Barzagli told Gazzetta.it. "I like Stramaccioni because he's brought new ideas to the game. Inter are a great team."

AC Milan hasn't had the same success this season as Inter and the Rossoneri enters Saturday's match against Chievo having won only three times in 10 league matches to sit in the bottom half of the league.

On Sunday, third-place Napoli tries to bounce back from a loss to Atalanta in midweek when the club hosts Torino, Pescara attempts to climb out of the relegation zone with three points against Parma, while Bologna attempts to win its third game of the campaign when Udinese rolls into town.

Lazio tries to remain in the top four with three points at Catania, Fiorentina entertains Cagliari, Sampdoria hosts Atalanta, Genoa meets last-place Siena and Palermo tries to add to its one win this season when the club visits Roma.
