Freiburg remains winless after draw with Hertha
Freiburg, Germany (Sports Network) - Freiburg is still searching for its first win after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Hertha Berlin, leaving the club in 17th place in the Bundesliga after six games.
Admir Mehmedi's goal after six minutes got the hosts off to a positive start as he latched on to a through ball from Sebastian Freis before rounding goalkeeper Thomas Kraft and sliding his shot into the net.
Hertha began to find its way into the match and took advantage of some poor defending in the 38th minute to equalize as Per Skjelbred took a throw-in from Ronny and caught the defense off guard to even the match at 1-1.
Gelson Fernandes then wasted a glorious chance in the final minute to snatch Freiburg's first win as he was left alone with the goalkeeper but fired his shot off the left post.
Sunday's other contest also ended 1-1 as Stuttgart and Eintracht shared the spoils.
Marco Russ put Eintracht in front after 14 minutes, but his opener was swiftly canceled out a few minutes later by Timo Werner's first goal of the campaign for Stuttgart.
