Ribery, Van Buyten sign Bayern extensions
Munich, Germany (Sports Network) - Franck Ribery and Daniel van Buyten have signed contract extensions with Bayern Munich, it was announced Thursday.
Ribery has signed a two-year extension to keep the winger at the club until 2017. He previously enjoyed stints at Marseille and Galatasaray but has become a central figure in helping Bayern achieve success in recent years, which culminated in the club claiming the "Triple" this season.
"I'm delighted to be staying in Munich, I'd promised it to the fans and now the contract is signed," the 30-year-old said in a statement. "For my family and myself, Bayern Munich has become a second home and I'm sure that in the coming years we'll win another trophy or two and defend them."
Van Buyten has penned a one-year extension to stay at the Allianz Arena until the end of next term. The 35-year-old joined the Bavarians from Hamburg one year before Ribery.
"We're delighted to be going forward with two important elements of the team," said Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "Franck and Daniel have done amazing things over the years. We've always been able to count on them and they've often made the difference in crucial moments."
