Hoffenheim's Gomes out for season
Sinsheim, Germany (Sports Network) - Hoffenheim goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes will play no further part in the club's season after sustaining a broken hand in Friday's 3-0 win over Dusseldorf.
The 32-year-old injured his hand when Andreas Lambertz slid into him, leaving Hoffenheim to play out the remainder of the campaign with another goalkeeper.
Gomes joined Hoffenheim on loan from Tottenham in January, and he started nine games after Tim Wiese lost his starting job.
But the club has said it will now turn to 20-year-old Koen Casteels as the first-choice netminder with Casteels having started nine Bundesliga games this term.
Casteels will be charged with helping Hoffenheim remain in the top flight as the club sits second from the bottom and one point away from a place in the relegation playoff with six games remaining.
