Hannover hammers Nurnberg

Hannover, Germany (Sports Network) - Didier Ya Konan scored twice to lead Hannover to a comfortable 4-1 win over Nurnberg and the AWD Arena on Wednesday.

Ya Konan's brace came in the second half after Hannover took a 2-0 lead into the break, while Szabolcs Huszti tallied a goal and two assists for the home side, which won for the third time in five games.

Huszti set up the opening goal for Lars Stindl midway through the opening frame when he gained possession of the ball in midfield and passed to Stindl, who found the corner of the net from inside the penalty area.

Hannover doubled its advantage before halftime with Huszti doing the work himself as he once again stole possession of the ball and this time beat goalkeeper Raphael Schafer on his own.

Ya Konan scored a similar goal in the 52nd minute to make it 3-0 to the home side, while Huszti set up Ya Konan's second strike of the match before Nurnberg got a consolation goal from Timmy Chandler in the 73rd.

Bayer Leverkusen 3, Augsburg 1

Augsburg, Germany - Bayer Leverkusen scored three times in the first half en route to a 3-1 victory over Augsburg that moves the club into the top half of the table.

Stefan Kiessling's goal after seven minutes got Leverkusen off to a good start, while Philipp Wollscheid made it 2-0 in the 39th minute with a deflected volley.

Leverkusen's lead was stretched to 3-0 one minute before halftime when Andre Schurrle opened his account on the season by cutting in from the right and firing a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Augsburg's only response came in the 51st minute through Tobias Werner, leaving the club with four losses from its first five games.

Werder Bremen 2, Freiburg 1

Freiburg, Germany - Werder Bremen came from a goal down at halftime to defeat Freiburg, 2-1, on Wednesday for Bremen's second win of the campaign.

Jonathan Schmid's free kick had Freiburg ahead at halftime, but Bremen came back early in the second half and leveled the contest with Joseph Akpala finishing off a pass from Marko Arnautovic.

The difference arrived just before the hour mark when Aaron Hunt latched on to Kevin De Bruyne's through ball and slotted his shot into the bottom corner.

Monchengladbach 2, Hamburg 2

Monchengladbach, Germany - A stoppage-time goal from Alvaro Rodriguez helped 10-man Monchengladbach grab a 2-2 draw against Hamburg.

Rafael van der Vaart scored a nice goal in the 23rd minute to put Hamburg ahead before Martin Stranzl equalized in the 39th for Monchengladbach.

The visitors restored their lead on the stroke of halftime through Artjoms Rudnevs, while Hamburg threatened to extend the advantage after the break.

Stranzl was sent off for fouling Ivo Ilicevic inside the penalty area, but Van der Vaart sent his spot kick off the post, keeping the door open for Rodriguez to home the late equalizer.

Hoffenheim 3, Stuttgart 0

Stuttgart, Germany - Hoffenheim collected its second successive win on Wednesday by cruising to a 3-0 victory at Stuttgart.

After losing its first three games, Hoffenheim now seems to be finding its form and the club took the lead after five minutes through Takashi Usami.

Stuttgart's attack sputtered on Wednesday, and Joselu added to Hoffenheim's lead shortly after the break when he got to Roberto Firmino's through ball and beat goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.

Fabian Johnson scored for the second time in two games 11 minutes later to cap the scoring.
