Matuidi's strike sends PSG top
Paris, France (Sports Network) - Blaise Matuidi sent PSG to the top of the Ligue 1 table on Sunday, scoring just before halftime in the club's 1-0 defeat of Lyon at the Parc des Princes.
Matuidi's goal, his third of the Ligue 1 season, came in the first minute of first-half stoppage time.
PSG held on to the one-goal lead the rest of the way, climbing to the summit of France's top flight.
Three clubs are tied at the top of the table as PSG, Lyon and Marseille all end the weekend on 35 points, but PSG superior goal differential leaves the club top by a comfortable margin.
Lorient 2, St. Etienne 0
Saint Etienne, France - Lorient claimed two goals before halftime to cruise to a 2-0 victory over St. Etienne at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Sunday, its fourth successive Ligue 1 win.
Jeremie Aliadiere and Alain Traore provided the goals in the 20th and 38th minutes, respectively, to see Lorient take sole possession of fourth place with 30 points on the season.
St. Etienne has lost two of its last three to remain on 27 points.
Nancy 1, Bordeaux 1
Nancy, France - Bordeaux was reduced to 10 men but still managed to earn a point as it came from behind in a 1-1 draw with Nancy at the Stade Marcel Picot on Sunday.
It was an abysmal first half for the visitors as Djamel Bakar's goal gave Nancy the lead in the 32nd minute before Andre Biyogo Poko was sent off in stoppage time, leaving Bordeaux to play the second half down a man.
Bordeaux still drew level through Henri Saivet's goal 14 minutes from time, which helped the club earn its fourth straight draw in league play to improve to 28 points. Nancy remains bottom with 11 points.
