Ramires accepts four-game ban
London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Chelsea midfielder Ramires has accepted a charge of violent conduct from the Football Association and will serve a four-match suspension.
The incident occurred in Chelsea's 2-1 defeat to Sunderland last weekend when the Brazil international was involved in an incident away from the ball with Black Cats midfielder Sebastian Larsson.
Ramires appeared to elbow Larsson in the head with referee Mike Dean failing to spot the clash, although the play was reviewed by a three-man panel and was deemed to be worthy of a red card.
The 27-year-old will now miss Chelsea's final three games of this season, against Liverpool, Norwich City and Cardiff City, as well as the Blues opening match of the 2014-15 Premier League campaign.
Ramires started 29 games in the league for Chelsea this term, but he is still eligible to play against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.
