Liverpool seals Mignolet deal
Liverpool, England (Sports Network) - Liverpool have completed the signing of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet from Sunderland, the Merseyside club confirmed on Tuesday.
Mignolet, 25, signed a long-term contract following a medical at the club's Melwood training ground on Tuesday.
"I am delighted that we have been able to sign one of the top goalkeepers in the Barclays Premier League," manager Brendan Rodgers told the club website. "Simon will join a club that will give him an opportunity to demonstrate and improve his huge talent."
The Belgium international arrives at Anfield with 101 games under his belt for Sunderland while keeping 11 clean sheets in 40 matches for the Black Cats last term.
Mignolet will compete with first-choice goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who has been linked with a return to Spanish champions Barcelona, where he began his professional career.
Mignolet becomes Liverpool's fourth signing of the summer along with former Manchester City defender Kolo Toure, Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas and Sevilla midfielder Luis Alberto.
