Pelle's brace powers Feyenoord over Heracles
Rotterdam, Netherlands (Sports Network) - Graziano Pelle scored a first-half brace as Feyenoord hammered 10-man Heracles by a 6-0 count on Sunday at the De Kuip Stadion.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 19th minute through John Goossens and Pelle collected his first of the afternoon 11 minutes later to give Feyenoord a quick two-goal margin.
Three minutes later, Lex Immers made it 3-0 to the hosts and things got even worse for Heracles one minute before the break when Remko Pasveer was shown a red card, reducing the visitors to 10 men.
Feyenoord took advantage of the extra man and Pelle converted a spot kick to give his club a comfortable 4-0 lead at the break.
After the break, Feyenoord kept the pressure on and Ruben Schaken made it 5-0 in the 55th minute before Goossens scored his second of the match in the 68th to complete the rout.
Feyenoord moves level on points with second-place PSV, while Heracles remains in ninth place on 37 points.
Elsewhere in the Eredivisie on Sunday, Twente scored twice inside the half- hour mark and rolled to a comfortable 5-2 win over NEC Nijmegen at the De Grolsch Veste, while Elroy Pappot scored a 55th-minute winner as Utrecht edged Zwolle by a 2-1 count.
In Sunday's final Eredivisie fixture, Mike Havenaar, Wilfried Bony and Marco van Ginkel all found the back of the net as Vitesse cruised to a 3-1 win over Willem II to move to within two points of Feyenoord for third place in the Dutch top flight.
