Lanus continues perfect start
Buenos Aires, Argentina (Sports Network) - Lanus won for the third time in as many games to start the season on Saturday as the club slipped past Velez Sarsfield, 1-0.
Silvio Romero provided the lone goal in the 35th minute for Lanus, which has yet to concede a goal this season and has outscored the opposition, 8-0.
River Plate is the only other team in the league with nine points from three games as the club put together a furious rally in the final 10 minutes of the game to secure a 3-2 win over Tigre.
Alejandro Donatti's goal in the 54th minute had Tigre in front, but Carlos Luna scored twice in the span of two minutes to give River Plate a 2-1 lead with four minutes to play.
Juan Manuel Iturbe made it 3-1 in the 90th minute while Matias Garcia netted a penalty kick shortly before the final whistle for Tigre.
Argentinos Juniors sustained its third defeat in a row to start the season as the club fell 2-1 at home against Arsenal, while the other contest on Friday saw Santiago Gentiletti score in the 78th minute to help San Lorenzo to a 1-1 draw at Estudiantes.
Union was handed a 3-0 home defeat by Quilmes as the hosts finished the match with nine men, Boca Juniors fell 2-0 at All Boys to second-half goals from Oscar Ahumada and Angel Vildozo, while Godoy Cruz stayed unbeaten with a 2-1 away victory against Atletico Rafaela.
Independiente won for the second time in three games as the club topped Racing, 2-0, Belgrano got an 88th-minute winner from Martin Zapata to down Colon, 2-1 and on Monday, San Martin played to a 1-1 draw with Newell's Old Boys.
