River Plate topples Tigre behind Lanzini's brace
Buenos Aires, Argentina (Sports Network) - River Plate secured its second victory of the campaign on Sunday as Manuel Lanzini scored on both sides of halftime in a 3-0 win over Tigre.
Lanzini tallied his first goal just before halftime to put River into the lead, and Giovanni Simeone doubled the advantage in the 62nd.
The 20-year-old Lanzini then netted his second goal of the evening two minutes later to put the result beyond reach, handing Tigre its fourth defeat in six games to start the season.
Argentinos Juniors stayed one point clear at the top of the league with a 1-0 triumph at home against All Boys.
Osvaldo Miranda scored the lone goal in the 28th minute, while All Boys was reduced to 10 men when Roberto Battion was sent off just after the hour mark.
Both Arsenal and San Lorenzo kept pace with wins of their own as Arsenal slipped past Quilmes, 1-0, through Martin Rolle's first-half goal, while San Lorenzo won 2-0 at Rosario Central with goals from Martin Cauteruccio and Hector Villalba.
Olimpo handed Boca Juniors a 3-0 defeat with two goals from Martin Guedes, Ezequiel Maggiolo's 74th-minute equalizer helped Belgrano to a 1-1 draw at Estudiantes, Godoy Cruz downed Colon, 1-0, behind a goal from Jonathan Ramis in the 83rd minute, Lanus managed a 1-1 draw at Racing despite having two players sent off, Atletico Rafaela beat Gimnasia LP, 2-1, and Velez Sarsfield rolled to a 3-0 victory over Newell's behind two goals from Ramiro Caseres.
