Velez Sarsfield closes gap on leaders
Buenos Aires, Argentina (Sports Network) - Velez Sarsfield moved to within three points of the top spot in Argentina's Apertura with a 1-0 win at Tigre on Saturday.
Three points looked to be a long shot for Velez in the 68th minute when Francisco Cerro was sent off for the visitors with the game level at 0-0.
However, Velez managed to claim the maximum points seven minutes from time when Fabian Cubero set up the lone goal of the match for Alejandro Cabral.
Velez moves to within three points of league leaders Newell's, which was held to a 0-0 draw by second-place Racing on Sunday.
Belgrano squandered a chance to also close the gap as the club suffered a 1-0 defeat at All Boys after a 65th-minute goal from Mauro Matos.
Arsenal won its fourth match of the season on Friday by toppling Colon, 2-0, with a first-half goal from Lisandro Lopez and another shortly before the final whistle from Jorge Ortiz.

Quilmes beat River Plate, 1-0, with Martin Cauteruccio providing the only goal in the 59th minute, Lanus won 2-1 at Atletico Rafaela and Boca Juniors played out a 0-0 draw with Estudiantes.
