Boca Juniors maintains top spot in Clausura
Buenos Aires, Argentina (Sports Network) - Boca Juniors maintained its spot at the top of Argentina's Clausura over the weekend as Juan Insaurralde and Dario Cvitanich scored in a 2-1 win over Argentinos Juniors.
Pablo Hernandez scored less than two minutes into the game for Argentinos, but Insaurralde tied the game just before half and Cvitanich added the game-winner in the 66th minute for Boca.
Nicolas Berardo was sent off inside the 70th minute for Argentinos, and Boca held on Saturday for its third win in its last four matches to reach 20 points after nine games.
Arsenal won its fifth straight game Friday, 2-1 over Olimpo to move two points off the top in second place. Jorge Ortiz scored the match-winner in the 75th.
Also Friday, Velez Sarsfield lost points for the third time over its last four in 1-1 draw with Independiente and slipped to fourth and four off the top.
Also Saturday, Martin Dario Zapata and Juan Pablo Rodriguez scored as All Boys sent Tigre to its third straight loss 2-0, Javier Chevanton scored in the 87th as Colon edged Lanus 1-0, Banfield and Union traded penalty kicks in stoppage time in a 2-2 draw, and Atletico Rafaela downed San Martin 3-1.
On Sunday, Esteban Nicolas Gonzalez scored twice as Belgrano edged Estudiantes 2-1 in a game that both teams finished with 10 men, and Maximiliano Urruti was able to grab a point for Newell's with a 90th-minute goal in a 1-1 tie against Godoy Cruz.
On Monday, Emmanuel Gigliotti scored just before halftime to cancel out a goal from Matias Martinez as San Lorenzo earned a 1-1 draw at Racing.
