Voeckler wins Stage 16, Wiggins continues to lead

Bagneres-de-Luchon, France (Sports Network) - Thomas Voeckler of France easily won Stage 16 of the Tour de France on Wednesday, while Britain's Bradley Wiggins maintained the yellow jersey.

Voeckler, who also won Stage 10, completed the 197-kilometer trek from Pau to Bagneres-de-Luchon in a time of 5 hours, 35 minutes and 2 seconds. Chris Anker Sorensen of Denmark and Gorka Izaguirre Insausti of Spain finished second and third, respectively.

The top three riders in the overall standings remained the same, with Wiggins holding a 2:05 lead over countrymate Christopher Froome. Italy's Vincenzo Nibali sits in third.

Defending champion Cadel Evans of Australia finished 35th on Wednesday and fell to seventh in the general classification standings. He is more than eight minutes behind Wiggins.

Stage 17 on Thursday is 143.5 kilometers from Bagneres-de-Luchon to Peyragudes.
