Steiner grew up in Brooklyn. He studied business at Syracuse University and joined Hyatt Hotel's management training program. From there he accepted a manager's job at the Hard Rock Cafe, where he began meeting athletes. Steiner resides in Scarsdale, New York with his wife Mara, and his two children, Crosby and Nicole.
