France captured the gold medal in the men's team epee fencing competition on Sunday at the Olympics, defeating Hungary, 43-32 in the final.
"Since we were in the finals, there was not a chance in the world we could lose the gold medal," said France's Fabrice Jeannet. "We were very well prepared for this final and we had confidence in our selves. I am very happy and I dedicate this medal to every one who supported us all the way."
Germany won the bronze medal by defeating Russia, 37-29.
Also Sunday, the International Fencing Federation (FIE) announced the exclusion of a referee. The Executive Board of the FIE suspended Joszef Hidasi of Hungary for the next two years for poor calls in the men's foil team gold medal match.
