Athens, Greece (Sports Network)-
South Korea nearly swept all of the archery competitions at the Olympics following a gold medal performance for the men's team event on Saturday.
The Korean team of Im Dong Hyun, Jang Yong Ho and Park Kyung Mo bested the Taiwan team of Chen Szu Yuan, Liu Ming Huang and Wang Cheng Pang, 251-245. For the second Olympic Games in a row Korea has won three of the four archery gold medals. The only one Korea lost this year was the men's individual, which was captured by Italian Marco Galiazzo.
The United States just missed out on a medal, falling to the Ukraine, 237-235 in the battle for the bronze. It was a valiant effort for the American team of Butch Johnson, John Magera and Vic Wunderle.
"I'm disappointed we didn't get a medal, but we shot our best and that's all you can do," Wunderle said. "We just came up a little short. Had we been on a little more, we would be one of the best teams in the world right now, but now we have to set our sites on Beijing, move on and learn from this experience."
