New York Islanders (23-19-6) at Carolina Hurricanes (24-23-4), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes will aim for their third consecutive victory tonight, when they welcome the New York Islanders to the RBC Center for the finale of a home-and-home series.

The Hurricanes and Islanders played at Nassau Coliseum on Monday afternoon, and Carolina posted the dramatic road victory.

Cory Stillman scored a power-play goal just 52 seconds into overtime, as the Hurricanes overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period to take a 3-2 decision at Nassau Coliseum.

New York defenseman Andy Sutton was whistled for cross-checking 37 seconds into the extra session. Eric Staal made a cross-ice pass to Stillman, who was perched at the right side of the net. Stillman fanned on his first attempt, but whacked the puck past the left pad of Rick DiPietro on his second try.

Mike Commodore and Niclas Wallin tallied for the Hurricanes, while Cam Ward made 23 saves in the win.

The Hurricanes have won two straight contests following a four-game slide. The club hasn't won three in a row since October 9-13.

Carolina has also jumped back into first place in the Southeast Division after briefly yielding the spot to Atlanta. The Hurricanes have 52 points and are three points ahead of the Thrashers.

Andy Hilbert and Miroslav Satan had the goals for the Islanders, while DiPietro finished with 26 saves in defeat.

The Islanders have dropped two straight and seven of 10 overall. New York has 52 points on the year and is just two ahead of the last-place Rangers in the Atlantic Division.

Carolina, which is 11-10-2 as the host club this season, is kicking off a three-game homestand tonight. The Hurricanes have lost four of their last five home contests.

The Isles are 10-10-3 as the visiting club this year and are playing the first of two straight on the road tonight. New York will also make a stop in Boston on Thursday.

Carolina has taken two of the three meetings with the Islanders this year and seven of the last 10 encounters overall.
