New Jersey Devils (6-7-2) at New York Islanders (8-4-0), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The New York Islanders will aim for their fourth
consecutive victory this evening, as they welcome the New Jersey Devils to
The Isles have won three straight for the first time since closing out the
2006-07 regular season on a four-game winning streak.
New York's latest triumph came Tuesday evening against the cross-town rival
Rangers. Miroslav Satan scored the game-winner as the Islanders exploded for
three goals in the final period to edge the visiting Rangers, 3-2.
Satan is currently on a six-game points streak, recording four goals and five
assists in that run.
Ruslan Fedotenko had a goal and an assist, while Trent Hunter also scored for
the Isles, who improved to 4-1-0 on a six-game homestand that concludes with
Rick DiPietro started in goal for the seventh straight game and stopped 28-
of-30 shots, three days after he was hit in the right eye by the stick of
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby.
The Islanders are 6-2-0 as the host club this season and will begin a four-
game road trip Monday evening in Philadelphia.
New Jersey, meanwhile, will aim for its second straight victory after downing
the Philadelphia Flyers in Thursday's tilt in Newark. Karel Rachunek had a
goal and an assist as the Devils defeated the Flyers, 4-1, at the Prudential
Dainius Zubrus and Brian Gionta each scored for the Devils, who snapped a two-
game slide. Martin Brodeur only needed to make 13 saves for the win.
Rod Pelley scored his first career goal in the game for New Jersey, which has
won nine straight times when hosting Philadelphia.
The Devils will play their next two games on the road, including tonight's
affair and Monday's test in Pittsburgh. Jersey is just 3-5-2 as the visiting
team this season.
The Islanders recorded a home win over the Devils on October 20 for their
second straight win over New Jersey after losing six straight. That win also
halted a four-game series home losing streak to the Devils.
