Phoenix Coyotes (1-1-0) at Columbus Blue Jackets (1-1-0), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes will play their first road game of the season tonight, when they battle the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

The Coyotes earned a victory over St. Louis in the season opener last Thursday, but were then defeated by Boston on Saturday. Chuck Kobasew's short- handed tally in the first period proved to be the decisive goal, as the Bruins held off Phoenix, 3-1, at Jobing.com Arena

Niko Kapanen had the lone tally for the home club and Mikael Tellqvist finished with 21 saves for the Coyotes, who will wrap up a brief two-game swing Saturday in Nashville.

Phoenix was dreadful on the road last season, as it went just 13-26-2 away from the desert.

The Blue Jackets are 1-1 on the season just like Phoenix. Columbus opened the year at home with a surprising 4-0 win over the defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks, but were then handed a close loss in Minnesota on Saturday.

Columbus' first setback of the year was disappointing, as the club held a 2-1 advantage heading into the third period. Eric Belanger scored 1:44 into the third to tie the contest and Brent Burns tallied the game-winner at the 6:35 mark to help Minnesota earn the 3-2 victory at Xcel Energy Center.

Ron Hainsey and Adam Foote tallied for the Blue Jackets, while Fredrik Norrena stopped 28-of-31 shots in the loss.

Columbus was once again without centerman Mike Peca, who is on injured reserve with back and groin problems. Peca, who was signed late in the offseason to a one-year deal, may be ready to make his Blue Jackets debut tonight after participating in team practice on Tuesday.

The Blue Jackets hope to improve as a home team this season after going 18-19-4 in Ohio last year.

Columbus has won four of the last seven meetings with the Coyotes, but Phoenix has come out on top in two of the previous three matchups at Nationwide Arena.
