Colorado Avalanche (18-17-2) at St. Louis Blues (11-19-7), 8 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche will try to avoid their third
straight setback tonight, when they visit the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade
Center for the finale of a home-and-home series.
The teams met Friday night in Denver and St. Louis earned the 4-2 victory as
Martin Rucinsky scored two goals.
Bill Guerin had a goal and an assist for the Blues, who have won four of their
last five games. Manny Legace stopped 30 shots in the win, and improved to
4-0-1 in his last five tests.
Joe Sakic and Wojtek Wolski each had a goal and Peter Budaj made just 16 saves
for the Avalanche.
Sakic has notched goals in three straight games and is also nearing a
milestone. The 37-year-old center now has 1,530 points in his career and needs
just two more to pass Paul Coffey for sole possession of 10th place on the
NHL's all-time list.
Colorado has 38 points this year and is currently tied with Edmonton at the
bottom of the Northwest Division standings. However, the clubs are just two
points behind Minnesota and Calgary for the top spot in the division.
Meanwhile, the Blues are still trying to get out of the Central Division
basement. They have 29 points and are three behind fourth-place Columbus.
The Avs and Blues have split two meetings this year after Colorado swept all
four games in 2005-06.
