Columbus Blue Jackets (14-20-3) at Minnesota Wild (18-17-2), 8 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Wild kick off a five-game homestand tonight,
when they welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets to Xcel Energy Center.
The Wild are coming off a road loss, as they dropped a 3-1 decision in Detroit
on Wednesday. Johan Franzen tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Red Wings
at Joe Louis Arena.
Pavol Demitra scored the lone goal for the Wild, who have lost three of their
last four. Niklas Backstrom allowed three goals on 33 shots for Minnesota,
which has also dropped a franchise-record 10 straight on the road.
However, the Wild are a different team at home this year, with a 14-3-1 mark
in St. Paul.
The Blue Jackets were victimized by the Red Wings on Thursday night, dropping
a 7-4 decision to visiting Detroit. Daniel Cleary had a hat trick, and tallied
the game-winning goal with 5:19 remaining in regulation as the Red Wings
defeated Columbus at Nationwide Arena.
Ron Hainsey, David Vyborny, Dan Fritsche and Adam Foote scored for Columbus,
which has lost two of three. Fredrik Norrena surrendered six goals on 35
The Blue Jackets and Wild have split a pair of meetings this year and Columbus
has taken five of the last seven encounters in the series.
