(Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes will shoot for their fifth
consecutive victory tonight when they welcome the Florida Panthers to RBC
Center for the back end of a home-and-home series.
The Hurricanes, winners of last year's Stanley Cup, are in the midst of their
longest winning streak of the season. With a victory tonight, they will have
their first five-game streak since February 12-March 6 of last year.
Carolina is coming off Saturday's close decision in Florida. Erik Cole scored
a power-play goal 1:59 into overtime as the Hurricanes came back to beat the
Panthers, 3-2, at BankAtlantic Center.
Ray Whitney contributed a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes. Rod
Brind'Amour also tallied for Carolina.
Goaltender John Grahame stopped 34-of-36 shots, including all 12 he faced in
the third period.
Olli Jokinen had a goal and an assist for the Panthers, who had their three-
game winning streak snapped. Ed Belfour made 14 saves on 17 Carolina shots.
The Hurricanes and Panthers have split a pair of meetings this season after
Carolina won six of eight encounters during the 2005-06 campaign.
