New York Islanders (17-12-3) at Carolina Hurricanes (17-14-4), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - A pair of teams shooting for three-game winning streaks
meet tonight in Carolina, as the Hurricanes welcome the New York Islanders to
the RBC Center.
The Islanders have posted back-to-back victories over the Thrashers and the
rival New York Rangers.
The most recent triumph came on the road Tuesday night against the Rangers.
Jason Blake's fourth career hat trick led the Isles to the 4-3 win at Madison
Alexei Yashin recorded the other goal and Tom Poti registered a pair of
assists for the Islanders, winners in three of their last four games. Rick
DiPietro made 30 saves in his 14th win of the season.
The Hurricanes are coming off Tuesday's victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.
Anton Babchuk's second-period goal put Carolina ahead for good and Cam Ward
paved the way with 29 saves in the 2-1 victory.
Justin Williams also scored for the Hurricanes, who had defeated Tampa Bay on
Saturday to end a five-game skid. Ward made his second consecutive solid start
in goal following his 30-save effort in the 3-2 win at Tampa.
The Islanders are 2-0 against Carolina this season, but both victories came in
New York. The Hurricanes have won two straight in this series at home.
