New York Islanders (17-12-3) at Carolina Hurricanes (17-14-4), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - A pair of teams shooting for three-game winning streaks meet tonight in Carolina, as the Hurricanes welcome the New York Islanders to the RBC Center.

The Islanders have posted back-to-back victories over the Thrashers and the rival New York Rangers.

The most recent triumph came on the road Tuesday night against the Rangers. Jason Blake's fourth career hat trick led the Isles to the 4-3 win at Madison Square Garden.

Alexei Yashin recorded the other goal and Tom Poti registered a pair of assists for the Islanders, winners in three of their last four games. Rick DiPietro made 30 saves in his 14th win of the season.

The Hurricanes are coming off Tuesday's victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. Anton Babchuk's second-period goal put Carolina ahead for good and Cam Ward paved the way with 29 saves in the 2-1 victory.

Justin Williams also scored for the Hurricanes, who had defeated Tampa Bay on Saturday to end a five-game skid. Ward made his second consecutive solid start in goal following his 30-save effort in the 3-2 win at Tampa.

The Islanders are 2-0 against Carolina this season, but both victories came in New York. The Hurricanes have won two straight in this series at home.
