Florida Panthers (10-17-6) at Buffalo Sabres (23-5-2), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres return home tonight when they welcome
the Florida Panthers to HSBC Arena.
Buffalo is fresh off a five-game road trip that saw the team go 3-2-0. They
finished the trek with consecutive wins over Montreal and New Jersey.
On Tuesday, Ryan Miller made 31 saves as the Sabres downed the Devils, 3-2, at
Continental Airlines Arena.
Daniel Briere had three assists for the Sabres, who have won seven of their
last 10 games overall. Jochen Hecht, Maxim Afinogenov and Jason Pominville all
scored goals for Buffalo.
The Sabres were without co-captain Chris Drury, who missed the match with the
flu. Drury is expected to play tonight, as is defenseman Teppo Numminen
Buffalo opens a three-game homestand tonight and will host Ottawa on Saturday.
Florida, meanwhile, has lost three consecutive games. On Tuesday the Panthers
dropped a 5-4 tilt to visiting Anaheim, as Chris Pronger scored two goals,
including the game-winner.
Drew Larman, Nathan Horton, Jay Bouwmeester and Ruslan Salei each tallied for
the Panthers. Goaltender Alex Auld stopped 26 of the 31 shots he faced.
Florida has lost nine of its last 11 games overall.
The Panthers begin a three-game road swing tonight and will visit Boston on
Buffalo and Florida have split two meetings this season, with each team
winning in its own rink.
