Phoenix Coyotes (11-16-1) at San Jose Sharks (21-9-0), 10 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks finish up a three-game homestand
tonight when they welcome the Phoenix Coyotes to HP Pavilion.
San Jose is 1-1 on the set so far, including Saturday's 3-1 win over
Nashville. Jonathan Cheechoo had a three-point night, scoring two goals and
picking up an assist, and Evgeni Nabokov made 20 saves to anchor the key
Curtis Brown also scored, while Joe Thornton finished with three assists for
the Sharks, who halted a brief two-game skid and won for the sixth time in
their last eight games overall.
Thornton has one goal and four assists in the last two contests after a four-
game point-less drought.
Cheechoo has three goals in his last two games after going five straight
without finding the net.
San Jose will visit Los Angeles on Tuesday to begin a home-and-home.
Phoenix, meanwhile, has lost two of its last three games. On Saturday the
Coyotes dropped a 4-3 overtime loss to visiting Dallas, as Jere Lehtinen's
quirky goal with 4.6 seconds left in OT lifted the Stars.
Ed Jovanovski, Owen Nolan and Michael Zigomanis all scored for the Coyotes,
while Mikael Tellqvist finished with 40 saves. The winning goal was scored
when Lehtinen's shot off a rebound bounced off the Tellqvist's shoulder and
into the net.
The Coyotes enter this game a horrible 3-10-0 on the road.
Phoenix will visit Vancouver on Tuesday.
San Jose edged Phoenix, 2-1, on November 11 in Glendale after the Coyotes won
six of the eight meetings last season. The Coyotes won in all four trips to HP
Pavilion in 2005-06.
