NHL Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, December 9th (All times eastern)

New Jersey Devils (16-9-2) at Boston Bruins (14-10-2), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils take their perfect December record into Boston this evening, as the Bruins welcome them to TD Banknorth Garden.

The Devils are in the midst of a four-game winning streak that began on December 1. The latest triumph came Friday evening against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.

Martin Brodeur turned aside all 28 shots he faced to pick up his fourth shutout of the season as New Jersey blanked Philly, 2-0. It was the 84th shutout in the legendary career of Brodeur, tying him with Glenn Hall for third place on the all-time list.

Jamie Langenbrunner and Brian Gionta each scored power play goals for the Devils.

Meanwhile, the Bruins aim for their third straight victory tonight after beating Montreal on Monday and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. Tim Thomas stopped 23 shots and three different Bruins scored in the third period, as Boston rallied for a 3-1 victory over the Leafs.

Brad Stuart, Wayne Primeau and Patrice Bergeron all scored for the Bruins, who have won five of their last six contests. Primeau also had an assist while Shean Donovan added a pair of helpers.

Despite the recent hot streak, Boston is still last in the tough Northeast Division.

Tonight marks the first meeting of the season between New Jersey and the Bruins after the Devils took all four matchups during the 2005-06 campaign.
