Atlanta Thrashers (1-0-1) at Tampa Bay Lightning (1-1-0), 7:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers and Tampa Bay Lightning clash for the
second time this season tonight when the meet at the St. Pete Times Forum.
The teams met in their opener last Thursday, and Tampa won, 3-2, in a shootout
in Atlanta. However, the Lightning dropped their next tilt two nights later,
3-2 to visiting Boston. The Bolts scored two goals in the second period to
tie the match, but Boston's Patrice Bergeron broke the deadlock early in the
Ruslan Fedotenko and Ryan Craig each scored for the Lightning. Marc Denis,
making his second start with the club, made 22 saves for Tampa.
Craig has three goals so far on the young season, as he netted two against
Atlanta in the opener.
Tampa Bay will visit Florida on Friday to begin a home-and-home set.
Atlanta, meanwhile, followed up its opening loss with a 6-0 win against the
Panthers on Saturday. Marian Hossa had two goals and an assist to lead the
onslaught at Philips Arena.
Jon Sim, Bobby Holik, Vyacheslav Kozlov and Andy Sutton also scored for the
Goaltender Kari Lehtonen stopped 22 shots for his fourth-career shutout and
second against Florida.
Hossa has three goals in the early going, while Russian superstar Ilya
Kovalchuk has yet to find the net in the first two tilts.
Atlanta will host Boston on Wednesday.
Tampa Bay is 6-3 in the last nine meetings with Atlanta.
