Nashville Predators (31-13-6) at Columbus Blue Jackets (18-30-2), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators will try to get back in the win
column this evening, as they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide
The Predators had a three-game win streak snapped Thursday in Minnesota. Manny
Fernandez stopped 32-of-33 shots to lead the Wild past Nashville, 5-1.
Greg Johnson notched the lone goal for the Predators, while Chris Mason made
22 saves in the loss.
Tonight marks the fourth segment of a five-game road trip for the Predators,
who are 12-8-5 as the visitors this year.
The Blue Jackets also played Minnesota on Friday evening and earned a victory.
Sergei Fedorov tallied the game-winning score off a defensive mistake by
Minnesota and Columbus rallied for three goals in the third frame to down the
Wild, 4-3, at Nationwide Arena.
Rick Nash netted the tying goal and Bryan Berard and Ron Hainsey also scored
for the Blue Jackets, who have won five of their last seven games. Fedorov
assisted on Nash's goal and Pascal Leclaire made 25 saves in the win.
A poor defensive play by Minnesota's Nick Schultz allowed the Blue Jackets to
take a 4-3 lead. Fedorov carried the puck into the zone along the left side
before shoveling the disc in front of the net. Schultz was the only one there
and the defender tried to redirect the puck into the corner, but the puck
sailed into his own net with 6:33 remaining.
Berard's tally was his 12th of the season and set a franchise record for goals
by a defenseman in a single campaign.
Nashville has won four of five meetings with the Blue Jackets this season,
after dropping the first matchup between the teams back on October 26. The
Preds have won 10 of the last 13 overall meetings and four of their last six
