Buffalo Sabres (23-11-1) at Tampa Bay Lightning (18-14-3), 7:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres try to get back on the winning track
this evening, as they visit the sliding Tampa Bay Lightning at St. Pete Times
The Sabres played Thursday at Florida and were handed a 4-1 loss. Jozef
Stumpel scored a pair of goals and assisted on another, while Roberto Luongo
made 27 saves to help the Panthers snap Buffalo's seven-game win streak.
Buffalo had won nine straight on the road, just one shy of a league mark held
by three different teams.
Thomas Vanek had the lone tally for the Sabres, while Martin Biron had a 13-
game win streak in goal come to an end. Biron stopped 26-of-30 shots on the
Center Daniel Briere missed his third straight game with an abdominal strain
and is questionable for tonight's test.
Buffalo completes a three-game road trip this evening. The Sabres are 12-6 as
the visiting team this year.
The Lightning, meanwhile, have dropped three straight and four of their last
five games, including a 4-2 loss at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. Tom
Poti scored with 1:48 left in the third period to help the Rangers earn the
John Grahame made 32 saves for the Lightning.
Brad Richards had a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay, which scored twice in
the third to erase a 2-0 deficit. Richards has an eight-game point streak with
two goals and nine assists in the stretch.
Buffalo picked up a shootout win at Tampa Bay in the only meeting of the
season back on October 13. The Sabres have won two of the last three
encounters in the series.
