Dallas Stars (11-6-1) at Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (7-7-4), 10:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim will try to halt a five-game
losing streak this evening when they host the Dallas Stars in the second test
of a two-game series at the Pond.
The Ducks will be without winger Sergei Fedorov, who was traded to the
Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Columbus obtained the six-time All-Star
along with a fifth-round pick in the 2006 draft in exchange for center
Tyler Wright and defenseman Francois Beauchemin.
Fedorov had appeared in five games with Anaheim this season due to a groin
injury, recording only one assist. However, in his 15-year career, the
Pskov, Russia native has registered 431 goals and 589 assists for 1,020
points in 993 games.
The Stars posted a 3-1 victory over the Ducks in Anaheim on Sunday evening.
Marty Turco made 40 saves and Jere Lehtinen tallied his ninth goal of the
season to lead the Stars.
Philippe Boucher and Bill Guerin also scored a goal each and Sergei Zubov
added two assists for the Stars, who have won five of their last six games.
Jonathan Hedstrom scored the Ducks' only goal and Ilya Bryzgalov, who replaced
starting netminder Jean-Sebastien Giguere in the second period, stopped 11 of
the 12 shots he faced for Anaheim, which is 0-2-3 in its last five games.
Giguere gave up two goals on seven shots before leaving the game with a muscle
cramp in his left leg. The netminder is listed as questionable for tonight's
Dallas improved to 6-2 on the road this season, while the Ducks dropped to
6-2-2 at home. Tonight's game marks the second test of a four-game homestand
The Stars have won two straight games in the series after dropping the
previous four matchups. Sunday's win was the first victory in five trips to
Anaheim for Dallas.
