Dallas Stars (10-6-1) at Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (7-6-4), 8 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim try to halt a four-game slide
tonight when they welcome the Dallas Stars to the Pond. This tilt begins a
two-game set between these teams.
The last three games of the Ducks' losing streak have been decided in either
overtime or a shootout. On Saturday they dropped a 2-1 overtime contest at
Phoenix. Zbynek Michalek scored the game-winning goal 3:09 into OT to lift the
Ryan Getzlaf score Anaheim's only goal and Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 28
of 30 shots for the Mighty Ducks. It was also the fourth time this season
Anaheim went to overtime but failed to garner the extra point.
The Ducks hope their home ice will continue to provide a lift. They are 6-1-2
at the Pond this season.
Anaheim begins a four-game homestand tonight and will host the Stars again on
Dallas, meanwhile, has won four of its last five games. On Saturday, Sergei
Zubov and Jussi Jokinen both scored in the shootout to lift the Stars past the
San Jose Sharks, 3-2, at HP Pavilion.
Philippe Boucher and Jason Arnott scored regulation goals for the Stars. Marty
Turco made 27 saves in the victory in addition to two big stops in the
shootout to seal the win.
The Stars improved to 5-2-0 on the road. Tonight's tilt marks the third
portion of a four-game trek.
Dallas and Anaheim went 2-2-2 against each other during the 2003-04 season.
