Phoenix Coyotes (7-8-1) at Chicago Blackhawks (4-10-0), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes will try to extend their season-best
winning streak to three games this evening when they visit the Chicago
Blackhawks at the United Center.
The Coyotes' latest victory was an impressive 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red
Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Saturday.
Curtis Joseph made 36 saves and Phoenix scored all of its goals on the power
play en route to the win.
Mike Leclerc, Zbynek Michalek and Mike Johnson each scored with the extra
skater for the Coyotes, who have won two in a row and four of their last six.
Mike Comrie chipped in an empty-net goal and an assist in the victory.
The win improved Wayne Gretzky's team to 3-6 on the road this season.
Meanwhile, the Blackhawks will try to erase the memory of Friday's 9-1
thrashing in Dallas. Stu Barnes posted his third career hat trick and added an
assist to lead the Stars at American Airlines Center.
Mikael Holmqvist scored the lone goal for the Blackhawks, who have lost five
out of their last six games.
Nikolai Khabibulin was pulled after allowing four goals on 18 shots. However,
his replacement, Craig Anderson, fared no better and stopped just 17-of-22
Tonight's game marks just the second home test for Chicago since it beat
Minnesota on October 23. The Blackhawks are 2-3 overall at the United Center
This is the first meeting of the season between Chicago and the Coyotes.
Phoenix is unbeaten in the last four matchups, posting just one win and three
ties in that stretch.
The Coyotes are also undefeated in their last five at the United Center (2
wins, 3 ties).
