Washington Capitals (26-41-12) at Florida Panthers (36-34-10), 7:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Florida Panthers try to sweep the season series from the Washington Capitals tonight when the teams clash at the BankAtlantic Center.

Florida is 7-0 against Washington this season, and 10-1-2 (1 loss, 2 ties) in the last 13 meetings overall.

The Panthers have won two of their last three games entering this matchup. On Thursday, Joe Nieuwendyk scored the game winner and Roberto Luongo set the all-time Panthers' win record in a 5-4 Florida overtime victory over Ottawa.

Olli Jokinen notched a goal and an assist for the Panthers. Alexei Semenov, Jonathan Sim and Martin Gelinas also scored, while Luongo made 46 saves.

The Panthers will finish their season on Tuesday against Atlanta.

Washington, meanwhile, has lost five of its last six contests. On Thursday the Caps dropped a 5-3 tilt in Atlanta, as Marian Hossa had two goals and two assists to lift the Thrashers.

Alexander Ovechkin, with a goal and an assist for Washington, now has 50 goals and 102 points and became only the second rookie in history to reach 50 goals and 100 points in one season. Teemu Selanne achieved the feat in the 1992-93 season. Also, Ovechkin became only the fourth rookie to tally at least 50 goals in a season, joining Selanne (76), Mike Bossy (53) and Joe Nieuwendyk (51).

Olaf Kolzig stopped 23 shots in the loss for the Capitals, who will finish their season with a home game against Atlanta on Tuesday and a road tilt in Tampa the following night.
