Chicago Blackhawks (24-42-13) at Columbus Blue Jackets (33-42-4), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Columbus Blue Jackets hope to regain their winning
touch tonight, as they welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to Nationwide Arena for
the opener of a home-and-home series.
The Blue Jackets ended a three-game losing streak with Thursday's win over
visiting St. Louis. Columbus had won six straight before the three-game slide.
Sergei Fedorov scored a goal and added an assist as the Blue Jackets defeated
the Blues, 4-1, at Nationwide Arena.
Pascal Leclaire made 26 saves for Columbus. Mark Hartigan, Aaron Johnson and
Manny Malhotra also tallied for the Blue Jackets.
Rostislav Klesla added two assists in the victory.
The Blue Jackets and Blackhawks will meet again on Sunday in Chicago. Columbus
will end its season with a home tilt against Dallas on Tuesday.
Chicago has dropped four straight and six of its last seven contests. The
Blackhawks were handed a 7-3 setback by Detroit on Thursday, as Brendan
Shanahan recorded his 17th career hat trick to lead the Red Wings.
Radim Vrbata posted a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who lost their
fourth straight. Kyle Calder and Patrick Sharp also scored in the loss.
Starting netminder Nikolai Khabibulin allowed five goals on 17 shots for
Chicago before being replaced by Craig Anderson at 6:55 of the second.
Anderson allowed two goals on 23 shots.
Chicago will host St. Louis on Tuesday to close out the season.
Columbus is 13th in the Western Conference with 70 points, while the
Blackhawks are nine back in 14th place.
The Jackets are 4-2 against the Blackhawks this season.
