San Jose Sharks (33-23-10) at St. Louis Blues (20-35-11), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks continue their quest for a playoff berth tonight, as they travel to St. Louis to battle the Blues at the Savvis Center.

The Sharks have been playing at a very high level since acquiring center Joe Thornton in a trade with Boston, but still can't seem to shake off the ghosts of their 10-game losing streak in November.

Currently, the Sharks have 76 points and are three points behind Edmonton and Los Angeles for final postseason berths in the Western Conference.

San Jose has won five of its last six games and has notched a point in seven straight tilts. The Sharks were in action Sunday and posted a 6-5 win over visiting Colorado.

Patrick Marleau scored two goals and Alyn McCauley tallied the game-winner late in the third period to lift San Jose past the Avs at HP Pavilion.

Jonathan Cheechoo notched his 42nd tally of the season and Evgeni Nabokov made 24 saves for San Jose. Tom Preissing and Scott Hannan also scored a goal apiece for the Sharks.

Thornton added an assist to extend his point streak to seven games. He has two goals and 11 helpers in the run.

The Sharks, who are just 11-16-4 as the visiting club this year, begin a five- game road trip tonight.

St. Louis, meanwhile, was handed a loss in Nashville on Monday. Scott Nichol scored two goals to lift the Predators past the Blues, 4-2.

Scott Young scored St. Louis' lone goal and Patrick Lalime stopped 37 shots for the Blues, who have lost three straight and four of their last five games.

San Jose is 2-0 against the Blues this season and has won four of the last five encounters.
