New York Islanders (31-31-4) at Tampa Bay Lightning (35-28-4), 5 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The New York Islanders will try to get back on the winning
track today, as they travel to Tampa to battle the Lightning at St. Pete Times
The Islanders had won four straight before dropping games at Atlanta and
Florida on Thursday and Friday. Both of the setbacks came by a 4-2 margin.
On Friday, Juraj Kolnik netted the decisive goal in the third period as the
Panthers defeated New York at BankAtlantic Center.
Miroslav Satan scored both goals for the Islanders. Shawn Bates recorded two
assists while Rick DiPietro stopped 40-of-43 shots.
The Islanders fell to 2-2 on the five-game road trip that ends today.
The Lightning, meanwhile, have won two of their last three and are coming off
Friday's 6-3 triumph over visiting Philadelphia. Ryan Craig scored a pair of
goals to lead Tampa Bay to the victory.
Vincent Lecavalier and Vaclav Prospal added a goal and an assist each for
the Lightning, while John Grahame came up with 28 saves.
Lecavalier has registered a point in six straight games, notching five goals
and three assists during the streak.
Tampa Bay, the defending Stanley Cup champion, is currently seventh in the
Eastern Conference playoff race.
The Lightning are 3-0 against the Isles this season and has taken five of the
last eight encounters.
