Phoenix Coyotes (5-7-1) at Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (5-5-1), 8 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim try for their third straight
win this evening when they play the third leg of a four-game homestand against
the Phoenix Coyotes at Arrowhead Pond.
On Friday, Teemu Selanne had two goals, as the Mighty Ducks upended the St.
Louis Blues, 6-4. Rob Niedermayer, Joffrey Lupul, and Jonathan Hedstrom each
had a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who have won four straight at home.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 24 saves on the night for Anaheim.
On the injury front, forward Sergei Fedorov has missed eight straight games
with a groin injury and will miss tonight's affair. Defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh
is also sidelined with a fractured rib, while right wing Corey Parry is out
with a concussion.
The Ducks, who will close their homestand against Nashville on Tuesday, are
4-1-0 at home this season.
Phoenix, meanwhile, comes into tonight's contest on a losing note after
falling to the Dallas Stars, 5-3, on Saturday. Shane Doan had a goal and an
assist and Mike Ricci and Fredrik Sjostrom each had goals for the Coyotes, who
had a two-game winning streak snapped.
Curtis Joseph, who recorded his 400th career victory against Calgary on
Thursday, made 36 saves in the loss. Rookie David LeNeveu is expected to start
To make matters worse, forward Petr Nedved, who had an assist in the game,
left with an elbow injury early in the first period and did not return. He
will miss tonight's affair and will likely sit out at least a week.
The Coyotes, who will host Los Angeles on Thursday, are 2-5-0 away from home
Anaheim topped Phoenix earlier in the season and could hold the advantage
tonight, as the home team in this series is 8-2-2 in the last 12 meetings.
Phoenix has also dropped three straight at the Pond and is just 1-5-1 there in
its last seven visits.
