Nashville Predators (37-19-7) at San Jose Sharks (29-23-9), 4 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators shoot for third straight win today when they visit the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavilion.

On Thursday, David Legwand scored just six seconds into overtime as the Predators edged the Vancouver Canucks, 3-2, at General Motors Place.

Steve Sullivan scored twice in the third period and Legwand added an assist for the Predators, who have won two straight and three of their last four overall. Goaltender Tomas Vokoun made 23 saves in the victory.

The Predators made a significant move before Thursday's trade deadline, acquiring big defenseman Brendan Witt from Washington. Witt injects instant size to a rather smallish Nashville blueline corps.

Nashville is currently eight points behind Detroit in the Central Division race.

The Preds will host Vancouver on Tuesday to begin a four-game homestand.

San Jose, meanwhile, ended a three-game slide in Thursday's 5-2 win over Edmonton. Rookie Steve Bernier had the best night of his young career with two goals and an assist, as the Sharks downed the Oilers, 5-2, at the Shark Tank.

Milan Michalek added a goal and two assists while netminder Vesa Toskala turned away 19 shots for the Sharks, who are 2-2-1 since the Olympic break.

San Jose began a six-game homestand on Thursday and will host Los Angeles on Monday.

The Predators are 2-1 against the Sharks this season.
