San Jose Sharks (28-23-8) at Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (28-20-12), 10:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim wrap up a five-game homestand
this evening, as they welcome the rival San Jose Sharks to the Pond.
The Ducks are 2-1-1 during the residency and are coming off Sunday's shootout
loss to Columbus. Rick Nash scored the lone goal of the shootout as the Blue
Jackets edged Anaheim, 3-2.
Ryan Getzlaf and Andy McDonald netted goals for the Mighty Ducks, who have
dropped two of their last three games overall. Jean-Sebastien Giguere
allowed two goals on 34 shots.
The Ducks are 18-9-5 at home this season.
The Sharks have dropped back-to-back games on the heels of a four-game win
streak and the most recent setback came Saturday in Calgary. Former Sharks
goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff turned aside all 26 shots he faced and Jarome
Iginla scored as the Flames beat San Jose, 2-0, at the Saddledome.
Evgeni Nabokov was solid, allowing just two goals on 20 shots faced, but
received no offensive support.
Meanwhile, San Jose's Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau each had six-game
point streaks halted.
Tonight marks the end of a three-game road trip for the Sharks, who are just
11-16-3 away from San Jose this season.
The Sharks and Ducks have already played six times this season and have split
those meetings thus far. San Jose has won seven of the last 10 matchups
overall and four of the last five in Anaheim.
