Columbus Blue Jackets (23-42-8-4) at Nashville Predators (35-28-11-3), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators continue their push for the playoffs tonight when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Gaylord Entertainment Center.

Nashville has 84 points and currently holds the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Predators are just one ahead of St. Louis and one behind Edmonton.

On Thursday, Andreas Johansson's goal snapped a third-period tie and helped Nashville skate past the New York Rangers, 4-2, at Madison Square Garden.

Tomas Vokoun stopped 26 shots for Nashville, which won for just the second time in its last 10 contests (2-4-3-1). Marek Zidlicky, Mark Eaton and Martin Erat also scored for the Predators in the triumph.

The win gave Nashville a club-record 35 victories on the season and helped the Predators move closer to their first-ever playoff berth.

The Predators begin a two-game road trip Tuesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Columbus is coming off a 3-1 home victory over on Friday night. Fred Brathwaite made 19 of his season-high 43 saves in the second period to lead Columbus to a 3-1 win over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim at Nationwide Arena.

Nikolai Zherdev finished with a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who posted their third straight victory. David Vyborny and Tyler Wright also scored.

Vyborny's career-high 21st goal of the season put Columbus ahead 1-0. He scored on a one-timer from between the circles with 7:59 left in the first period.

The Blue Jackets went ahead 2-0 at 7:57 of the second period. Zherdev slid a pass from along the left boards to the slot, where Wright gathered it and scored on a high wrist shot.

Alexander Svitov had two assists for the Blue Jackets.

The Predators are 4-1 against Columbus this season and have just two losses in the last 10 matchups with the Blue Jackets (7-2-1). The Jackets are also winless in their previous seven trips to Nashville (0-6-1).
