Wednesday, March 3rd (All times eastern)

New Jersey Devils (33-20-11-1) at Florida Panthers (24-26-14-3), 7:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils try to halt a three-game losing streak tonight when they visit the Florida Panthers at the Office Depot Center.

With 78 points, the Devils are sixth in the Eastern Conference standings -- four behind Boston for fifth. Jersey trails Philadelphia by six points in the Atlantic Division chase.

On Monday, the Devs dropped a dramatic 2-1 contest in Montreal, as Jason Ward scored with just 24 seconds remaining to lift the Canadiens. Turner Stevenson scored the lone New Jersey goal in the loss, the Devils' third straight. Martin Brodeur was solid in net with 37 saves, but New Jersey was unable to win its fourth straight over the Canadiens.

Montreal moved to within two points of the Devils in the East standings.

Earlier Monday, the Devils acquired forward Viktor Kozlov from the Panthers in exchange for forward Christian Berglund and defenseman Victor Uchevatov. The oft-injured Kozlov has 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points in 48 games this season, and is currently recovering from a concussion.

The Devils, who have lost four of their last five road games, will visit Tampa on Friday.

Florida, meanwhile, is eight points behind the NY Islanders for the final playoff spot in the East. The Panthers are 4-1-3 in their last eight games.

On Tuesday, All-Star Roberto Luongo made 29 saves to post his career-high seventh shutout of the season, leading Florida to a 1-0 win over Washington at the MCI Center.

Olli Jokinen scored on the power play for the Panthers, who snapped a two-game winless streak (0-1-1) overall. Luongo, who has four shutouts in his last seven games, ranks first in the NHL with 1,923 saves and places second with a .936 save percentage.

The Panthers, 4-1-1 in their last six home tilts, will host Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Florida and New Jersey are 1-1 against each other this season, and the road team has won seven of the last 10 meetings.
